Valedictorian Emma Disselkamp Royo is a creative, compassionate, and well-rounded leader who brings people together by creating a culture of support, expression and integrity.

As a student at the School of Leadership Studies, she embraced opportunities to build community across campus and beyond, using her voice, organizational skills and global perspective to foster meaningful connections and positive change.

Emma has held a wide range of leadership roles, including residence house president, student speaker and facilitator for major faculty events. She represented UNB internationally while working with a Bhutanese non-profit organization, where it hosted youth leadership workshops and camps that promoted democratic engagement and cross cultural understanding.

Equally at home, on stage or behind the scenes, Emma is a committed performer and songwriter who uses music as a way to tell stories, bring people together and create a sense of belonging. She has performed in UNB’s annual Red and Black Revue, at faculty coffee houses, and live on CHSR campus radio Rogers TV.

Her passion for service is evident in her fundraising work supporting cancer research and immigrant women’s access to mental health services, as well as her dedication as a youth ski racing coach at Crabbe Mountain.

Emma demonstrates confidence, creativity, and a desire to uplift others in all she does. Through her academic journey at UNB, she has consistently embodied integrity, collaboration and thoughtful engagement.

Emma Disselkamp Royo is graduating with a bachelor's degree in leadership studies and will deliver her valedictory address in Fredericton on Thursday, May 28 at 10 a.m.
