MacMackin, William F.

William (Bill) MacMackin will receive an honorary doctorate of letters degree.

A leader in the New Brunswick business community, Bill MacMackin received his Bachelor of Business Administration from UNB in 1987. As co-owner of Atlantic Canada's largest family-owned funeral service company, Select Community Funeral Homes Inc. and Brenan's Funeral Homes, Bill has been instrumental in building among the largest athletic scholarship endowments for UNB's track and field teams, leading to the sport regaining its place in the U Sports landscape at UNB.

Bill MacMackin's commitment to athletics extends beyond the university. As president of the Saint John Reds Track & Field Club; past president of Athletics Canada and Athletics New Brunswick; co-founder of the East Coast Games; Athletics Head Coach for Team New Brunswick at the 2022 Canada Games; and head of the Irving Oil Field House fundraising and development effort, Bill MacMackin's dedication has made a lasting impact on athletics throughout the region.
