It is now a great pleasure to introduce to you one of our distinguished guests who has been nominated by our Senate for the degree of Doctor of [Science].
Frank Allen born on the shore of the Saint John at Meductic.
He was educated in NB public schools at Mt. Allison Academy, at this University gaining his BA and winning the Alumni Gold Medal and the Brydone Jack Scholarship in 1895. He was then granted his MA here and at Cornell University with PhD at Cornell in 1902.
In 1904 he became Prof. of Physics at the University of Manitoba and has been associated with that University down to the present in its Physics Dept. as Prof., Chairman of Faculty and Principal.
There has been published much of his writing and results of his research in scientific subjects.
All who know Dr. Allen's work at Manitoba pay tribute to the valuable guidance, help and inspiration he has given the thousands of students that have come within his influence. For he has been able to blend in a harmonious and outstanding manner a precise and scientific mind with a broad wisdom mallowed by a warm and kindly heart.
Frank Allen the Senate of the University of New Brunswick has directed me to confer this Degree upon you in recognition of your fine contribution in learning and to humanity.
