WILLIAM GORDON JONES
to be Doctor of Laws
Alumnus, veteran of the first world war, for fifteen years in command of the Officers' Training Corps, Associate Professor of Mathematics and beloved friend of the University -- of its Faculty, of its students and of us all. His earlier name for pugnacity is insensibly mellowing with his mounting years of devoted service into that of Fourth Pillar of the College.

Cattley, Robert E.D. Honoris causa: the effervescences of a university orator. Fredericton: UNB Associated Alumnae, 1968.
