ROBERT WILLIAM MAXWELL
to be Doctor of Science

Here is a man who has proved an outstanding ally of our young farmers and an example to all who teach them.

Robert William Maxwell is a sound farmer with the gift of instruction. He learned better than to teach agriculture entirely from books. When appointed to the Soldiers' Settlement Board he found that he must, like Cato of old, himself shear the sheep, himself castrate the pig and -- for the benefit of soldiers versed in war but, when it came to cows, not too sure where the milk came from -- with his own hands demonstrate the milking.

His later and wider fame has come from his researches in seed-growing. But his true thesis on agriculture who seeks may read written on the fields of northern New Brunswick and in the hearts of his many pupils.
