ENCAENIA, MAY, 1953
CHARLES HUMPHREY BONNYCASTLE
to be Doctor of Laws

Turning, while his youth was still malleable, from business to teaching, Charles Humphrey Bonnycastle proved a naval reservist of enduring keenness. With the onset of World War II he was called to the colours and duly played his part in operations. The schoolmaster is now home from the sea, but he applies the same firm discipline, sets the same sound example, and enjoys the same rewarding success with his youthful pupils as he did, when a skipper, with his naval ratings.
