CONVOCATION, OCTOBER, 1954
ELLIOTT EVANS CHEATHAM
to be Doctor of Civil Law

*Elliott Evans Cheatham, Professor of Law at Columbia University School of Law, and one of the leading authorities on "Conflicts of Laws", has been throughout a long career, par excellence, a teacher of Law teachers. In his own land his services to Government and the legal profession have been inestimable and he has won the respect and affection of colleagues and pupils. In Canada and in her problems he has an abiding interest, and through the Canadian students he welcomes to Columbia he has deepened immeasurably the understanding of Law and of the one great country by the other.
