Valedictorian Emma Mattinson is a highly accomplished engineering student driven by a passion for sustainability, inclusivity, leadership and problem solving. A chemical engineering student specializing in energy conversion, she brings enthusiasm and determination to every role she takes on, including serving as president and founder of UNB Engineers for a Sustainable World, holding various executive positions within the UNB Diversity within Engineering Society and contributing to several engineering student societies.

Emma has represented UNB at sustainability conferences, mentored first-year engineering students and held executive roles that promote equity, community building and professional development. As an undergraduate research assistant in the Advanced Renewables and Catalysis Lab, she contributes to research on clean energy generation, while her industry experience at C Therm Technologies allowed her to work with engineers, researchers and specialists from global companies and organizations such as NASA, Adidas, 3M and more.

Her academic record is exceptional. Emma has earned numerous awards, including the Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau Undergraduate Engineering Scholarship for Women, the UNB President’s Scholarship and more. In addition, she was named U Sports Academic.

All Canadian with UNB varsity track and field three times over. She is widely recognized for her commitment to sustainability, academic excellence and leadership.

Emma Mattinson is graduating with a bachelor of science degree in engineering with a major in chemical engineering and will deliver her valedictory address in Fredericton on Thursday, May 28 at 2:30 p.m.
