In her address to the graduates, Mrs. McNulty talked of the importance of showing compassion and understanding to those in need.

"The meaning of life lies in two major areas. Our personal perfection and service to others. You can serve while you are moving toward perfection and you can move toward perfection by serving others."

She added that it was everybody’s responsibility to put human needs ahead of greed and the pursuit of money before finishing the convocation address to a standing ovation.
