Robertson gave the graduates important gems of wisdom she has learned throughout her life: education is key, close your mouth and open your ears, think outside the box or push the envelope, you are only as good as your support system, know yourself, good leadership is about how you handle yourself in situations, search out all sides to a problem and then solve it and participate in democracy.
"Without strong participation, our democracy is weak and without a strong democracy there is very little," Robertson said, closing her speech. "Our country is extraordinarily complicated. Our world is dangerously unstable. Be the best that you can be—we need each and every one of you now and in the years ahead."
